This is not a vacation you escape into.

When you join me on a retreat, you are not signing up for yoga and travel. You are stepping into a container built for your return.

Sacred Water is twelve nights in Cape Town. A private villa on Camps Bay holds us. A chef feeds us. A team of facilitators walks beside us the entire way. Nothing here is left to chance.

Water moves differently than we were taught to move. It yields. It remembers. It reshapes everything it touches. This retreat asks your body to do the same.

It is a pilgrimage you come home through.

Across the African diaspora, water has carried both displacement and rebirth. It holds the history we inherited and the future we are still building.

For Black gay men, this retreat is an invitation to immerse, cleanse, and reclaim. To wash away the narratives that were never yours to carry. To practice a masculinity that heals instead of hardens.

Water is a sanctuary. A teacher. A portal. You step into its depths not to remember, but to create.

A private house on Camps Bay

Eleven ensuite bedrooms. Two pools. Two rooftop jacuzzis. Ocean on one side, Table Mountain on the other. Two full kitchens feed a private chef who nourishes the group with intention. Eight lounge spaces give you room to be social or room to disappear.

Who Holds The Space

The people behind Sacred Water

Charles Muhammad
Charles has spent more than ten years building rooms where Black gay men can put the performance down.

He has led yoga and wellness programming across a dozen studios in the DC and Baltimore region, trained new teachers, and mentored coaches before most of them had language for what they were doing. Years earlier, he guided groups of 60 to 75 people through international travel across Europe, building daily programming and holding logistics for people far from home.

In 2018 he founded Charles Mindful Wellness. Since 2023 he has run COURAGE, a clothes free wellness program built for QTPOC community. He co-facilitates Brother to Brother Book Club, a standing room for Black gay men to read, talk, and stay in each other's lives.

Sacred Water is the next room. Charles built it the same way he builds everything, for the people who needed it, starting with himself.
